PAT Testing

R Brampton Ltd can perform electrical PAT testing for all types of businesses, from small businesses such as musicians and sole trader DJ's who perform in public places through to tool hire businesses, facilities managers, offices, hotels and schools. 

What is PAT ? (Portable Appliance Testing)

PAT Testing or Portable appliance testing is a legal and commercial obligation for many businesses who use electrical equipment in the course of their work.  Businesses have a health and safety obligation to protect their employees, clients and the wider public by having regular maintenance checks carried out by a qualified person.

You are obliged by the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) to have a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing under the following circumstances.

1. Where appliances are used by employees.

2. Where the public may use appliances in, for example, schools, shops, hotels, etc

3. Where appliances are supplied or hired.

4. Where appliances are repaired or serviced.

Levels of inspection depend on the risk attributed to the equipment in terms of likelihood of it becoming faulty, nature of the equipments use and where it is situated.

PAT Testing for schools

We have a school PAT testing schemes designed to minimise the impact on school term time and learning time.  We will be delighted to work with school site managers, bursars, IT managers or Head teachers to assist in this matter.  Equipment as far ranging as electrical floor cleaning machines and audio-visual equipment can be tested on site at the school, for their safety and suitability for continued use.  Maintenance and appropriate remedial work can be carried out as required.
